We design for everyone who needs SSDI.
A meaningful share of SSDI claimants rely on assistive technology. The product they encounter — and the public site representing it — must work for them.
Target · WCAG 2.1 AA
Standards we hold ourselves to
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across the marketing site, the dashboard, and the public research surface.
- Keyboard reachability for every interactive element. Visible focus rings (2-pixel accent outline at 2-pixel offset).
- Screen-reader semantics via native HTML elements and ARIA where native semantics fall short.
- Color contrast verified at 4.5:1 (body) and 3:1 (large text + UI components) on every text-on-background pair, both light and dark themes.
- Respect for
prefers-reduced-motion. Decoration drops; correctness stays. - No content gated behind hover-only or color-only signals.
What we’re still working on
We treat accessibility as a continuous practice, not a one-time audit. Current open work: a third-party VPAT review, expanded screen-reader testing of the attorney decision-queue, and a visible skip-to-content affordance on the marketing surface.
